Washer Fluid Problem
My windshield washer fluid wouldn't come out sometimes. (the front and back all stop working) After a while it would work fine again. I can hear the pump humming all the time, and I have put in anti-freeze washer fluid. Anyone else have this problem?

What are the outside temps? Are the nozzles iced up with snow?
I used winter fluid that is good to -40. |
I'm sure I put in anti-freeze in the fluid tank. The fluids that came out are blue. Anyway it worked this morning. I wonder if the pump could not function normally under extreme cold temperatures?

I've had the same problem...I thought I was out of washer fluid but something was frozen up...first car I've every had this problem with.

Worked fine today in -20 (with windshield) degrees celcius weather.
Take it in next time it happens. Its a safety item (many may not think so) and thus is required to work properly at all times! I just hope its not the fluid that's freezing, try to empty the tank and put in the purple stuff (-45 fluid with deicer). But I got blue stuff in mine and no issues. |
I've had problems in the past with ice buildup on the spout tip (don't know if that is the right term or not - where it spits :) ). If the pump doesn't have enough pressure to basically break the layer of ice it won't work no matter what your fluid is rated at. Something to check.

Just encountered this problem today. It was minus 13 degrees celcius. I noted one opening was clogged with ice, but couldn't see if the other one was.

Mine has been frozen for the past 48hrs due to extreme cold temps (in the single digits), so I expected the fluid to freeze up. I neglected to empty the reservoir and fill it up with Rain-X winter fluid - so it's really my fault. :(

no freeze for me :S but then again here we have fluid up to -45 degrees celcius. And today was just -15.

Winshield Washers Freezing
I have the same problem. It has been fixed by Acura twice with no final result. I beleive that there is a design issue. I have never owned a car that had this problem before.
If others have this problem, please post. I do love my RDX. |
I traced the issue due to the high hood/cowl where the lines are prone to freezing (cold wind, etc...).
|
RDX needs heated washer nozzles...

I searched, but I couldn't find the answer. So, I'll bump this thread instead of making a new one.
It was about 20F in the afternoon in Philly. I tried to use the windshield washer fluid for the front windshield, but nothing came out the front... it came out the back. I've never used the windshield washer fluid before today. I checked the nozzles and they seem to be open. And since fluid was spraying on the rear window, i assume the fluid wasn't frozen. Anyone in colder climates have this problem? Oh, and the rear window cleaner function on the steering wheel works fine. |
-30C (-22F) here in Ottawa lately and no issues with using the washer fluid.
|
I thought the Canadian versions have heated fluid?
You can always pick up one of those MicroHeat HotShot superheated washer fluid systems cheap now... Just be sure to use an inline fuse or it might superheat other fluids under the hood. |
